The 10th annual Rockland Literacy Extravaganza for teachers and college students will take place on Saturday, October 22 from 7:30am to 1:30pm at St. Thomas Aquinas College in the College's Romano Student Alumni Center.
The event is a professional development conference that focuses on teaching, reading and writing grades PreK-12. It is open to the public. Over twenty workshops will be presented on a broad range of topics.
The keynote speaker will be best selling scholastic author Dr. Tim Rasinski. He will speak on the topic of the best teaching practices in literacy, as identified in the No Child Left Behind Act. Dr. Rasinski is a past president of the College Reading Association.
Jan Cheripko, a St. Thomas Aquinas alumnus and author of Imitate the Tiger, will be a presenter as well as award-winning story teller and Rockland resident David Gonzalez, who’ll be giving a special closing presentation.
