SUNY Rockland Appoints Hellman

November 15, 2005
by Dylan Skriloff

Chairman of the RBA Board of Directors, Howard Hellman, has signed on to be the President of the newly revamped Alumni Association at SUNY Rockland Community College. Currently he and the college's president, Cliff L. Wood, are discussing who to place on the Association's board.

Hellman took the position because he believes the College's vast alumnus is an untapped resource that can be very useful in shaping its future. Alums will be asked to support College plans through donations or simply by promoting the school.

"Too many people lose touch with their experience at SUNY Rockland or take it for granted," Hellman said. A job of the Alumni Association will be to bolster a sense of pride in the College, which Hellman called "the anchor" of Rockland County.

"I want to realign people's thinking toward the College," he said. The first major action the Association is taking is a mass mailing of the campus magazine The Scene to alums.

Grand Openings Celebrated
by RBA Members

Congratulations to RBA members Dave and Linda Heinrich, Greg Johnson and Daniel Bardes for their recent Grand Opening celebrations.

The Heinrich's moved their company, Smart Money Mortgages, Inc. to a new headquarters at the Palisades Professional Office on West Nyack Rd. in West Nyack in late August. They held their grand opening celebration on October 27, treating everyone to a great feast.

Greg Johnson, a new member, had a party a night earlier at The Conference Room in Orangeburg.

Bardes' Office Depot in Nanuet, didn't move far, just across the parking lot in the Rockland Plaza shopping center. He held a grand-opening on October 21.
