Vital assets to the RBA mission are the omnipresent RBA Ambassadors. You can recognize them at any RBA event by the badges they wear.
Chaired by John Gilroy of R-J Staffing, Ambassadors are expert networkers who know the business scene in Rockland and can help new members make the connections they need to succeed. They are also, by necessity, friendly, outgoing people who want to make a difference.
"I'd gotten so much out of the RBA in my five or six years that I started thinking of ways I could give back," Ambassador Fran Reinstein of Devon Resources said. She also saw the job as an opportunity to grow as a person and create more opportunities for everyone in the RBA.
"A bigger organization leads to more opportunity for everyone," said Reinstein who has been an active recruiter. Since the RBA has grown so fast over the last few years, the importance of the Ambassadors has increased, she said.
Her boss at Devon Resources, a mortgage company, is Steve Dachs. He is also an Ambassador and he calls the job a great passion of his.
"I'm a giver. I love helping people and this gave me the opportunity to do it on a day-to-day basis," he said.
When Dachs joined the RBA three years ago he was shown around by Dave Heinrich, then chairman of the Ambassadors, who coincidentally owns a business in the same field as Dachs.
Dachs found this a little strange and asked Roger Scheiber if this would work. Roger put his arm around Steve and said, "Trust me, Dave will help you."
"You never know who you are going to meet, I tell that story at every orientation that I run," Dachs said. The Ambassadors are in charge of getting new RBA members acquainted with the organization.

Dachs and Reinstein both shared success stories; Reinstein recently recruited Orange County CPA Paul Rafanello to the RBA and helped get him so excited that he himself went on to recruit several new members that he brought to a prospects meeting.
Dachs recalls showing Michael Katz, Broadview Networks, the ins and outs of the RBA and seeing him use that information to have his phone systems installed at Dellwood Country Club and other locations.
Reinstein says she carries her RBA Directory with her at all meetings and asks her prospects who they need to meet. She calls her group of a dozen new members every month and helps plug them into groups and events appropriate to their needs.
Dachs is a famous face on the RBA circuit. At the recent RBA Expo Boutique, Dachs offered breaks to anybody manning their booth solo. At one point he stepped in for Tom O'Reilly of T-KAR Smart Energy Systems and sold a potential customer on the value of solar energy as if selling solar panels were his own trade.
Other RBA Ambassadors are Eric Black, All Types Advertising, Inc.; Steven Powell of Co-oper8 Marketing Group; Barry Dorfman of Liberty Mutual Insurance; Robert Salmon of H&S Sales & Consultants; Karen Seeman of Aubrey N. Seeman & Company, Inc.; Nadja Hoyer-Booth of The New York Mortgage Co., LLC; Richard W. Syrek of Mentor Management, LLC; Bill Madden of Madden Communications & Marketing, LLC; Robert Kantor of A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. and Joseph Zabar or Morgan Stanley.
