Rockland manufacturers can now enjoy expanded opportunities for their businesses and a greater voice in Albany with the newly formed partnership between the Rockland Business Association and The Manufacturers Alliance of New York.
Local manufactures, both RBA members and prospective members, already have been invited to participate in the Alliance’s annual survey of manufacturers and businesses across New York. The survey helps the Alliance assess the importance of general issues within the manufacturing community. Now, Rockland manufacturers will have an influence on the Alliance’s 2008 Legislative Agenda.
“There is a substantive and viable manufacturing community in Rockland County with many manufacturers outside the county wanting to come in,” said RBA President/CEO Al Samuels. “This partnership provides access to programs and initiatives that will benefit all involved.”
The Alliance is a statewide coalition of manufacturers dedicated to advancing business issues in Albany. It is comprised of the Council of Industry of Southeastern New York, the Manufacturers Association of Central New York, the Chief Executive Network for Manufacturing of the Capital Region, and now the RBA, representing more than 500 manufacturing employers across New York.
“The Council of Industry is pleased to be working with the Rockland Business Association to provide training, advocacy, wage and hour data and other services to Rockland County manufacturers,” Harold King, Executive Vice President of the COI said. “Working together, leveraging the resources of both organizations, we can provide more varied and valuable services to manufacturers than either organization can on its own.”
The Alliance also will make their Wage and Salary survey available to Rockland Manufacturers. The survey can provide valuable information to a company’s Human Resources department.
Steven Porath, who heads up the Rockland Empire Zone Program, noted, “Our manufacturing base is growing. We’ve seen a lot of manufacturers definitely pay attention to our program and relocate here. We welcome anything else that will attract other companies.” |
