Two golf courses, one day—Play The Rockland Open

For the second year in a row, The Rockland Open will offer playing on two of the county’s best golf courses. On Monday, May 19th, Minisceongo Golf Club in Pomona will host the Corporate Challenge, which is for foursomes only. On the same day, just a few minutes away in New Hempstead, New York Country Club will host playing for individuals and foursomes. After a day of playing, a Grand Cocktail Reception and Buffet will take place at New York Country Club at 5:30 p.m. Players from both courses as well as those who did not play are welcome to attend the reception. The reception will feature awards, a live auction, and raffle prizes. “It’s going to be a very high end golf outing,” said Barry Dorfman, co-chair of the event and sales representative for Liberty Mutual Group. “It’s not your average outing. We are having so many prizes and contests that most likely everyone will walk away with something.” One major contest is the Jet Blue Challenge in which golfers who come closest to the pin on the par 3 holes will have another chance for a hole-in-one and a shot at $50,000. Open Co-chair Don Franchino wants golfers to feel a sense of community at the outing. “This is a community activity we want people to come to this golf outing and support Rockland,” said Franchino, New City Allstate franchise owner. All proceeds of the Open will go to benefit the community programs of the Rockland Business Association and United Way of Rockland. The tournament is open to RBA members and non-members who wish to compete.
