County Executive to discuss “The Good and Not-So-Good Facing Rockland” at March General Membership Breakfast March 10, 2008
The Rockland Business Association is pleased to announce that County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef will speak at the March General Membership Breakfast. Vanderhoef’s address, “The Good and Not-So- Good Facing Rockland,” will highlight several issues important to the county’s future.
Vanderhoef will talk about the ramifications of the Albany budget discussions as they pertain to the shifting of certain funding from the state to the counties. Also, legislation attacking Industrial Development Agencies and Empire Zones, including the probable negative effects to communities like Rockland that are border counties. He will touch on the need for new Article X legislation, so that North Rockland might pursue a new gas-fired facility. Also, the Crossroads Mall project and its potential affect on sales tax revenues.
The County Executive will provide updates on the Tappan Zee Bridge project, the county’s WiFi initiative, the Population Projective Initiative, and the Downstate Suburban Workforce Housing for Economic Stability Initiative.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the business community to gain insight into the issues and initiatives that can affect them,” said RBA President/CEO Al Samuels. “We are always thrilled to have County Executive Vanderhoef speak to our members.”
