As Chairman of the Rockland Business Association Ambassador Program, Robert Salmon helps facilitate the invaluable relationships forged between members and ambassadors. He also sets policy for the program, holds quarterly meetings, and is the program’s spokesman.
As an ambassador himself, Salmon encourages all who he mentors to really embrace the offerings of the RBA and focus on building relationships. “Show up at the meetings and get involved in the committees,” Salmon said. “It’s not like other networking organizations. It’s not about being a referral. It is about meeting people, getting to know them and they you, and eventually you will both get business.”
Salmon credits his involvement with the RBA for helping to grow his independent insurance business. He is a Senior Partner at H&S Sales and Consultants, Inc. in Suffern, where he specializes in Life, Health, Disability, and Long Term care insurances. “What other business can you work in that you can really help people and earn a living at the same time?” said Salmon about the insurance industry. |

Before forming H&S Sales and Consultants, Salmon was the CFO of a multi-million dollar wholesale food distribution firm in Manhattan for almost 20 years. Changes in the food industry forced the firm to close in the late 80s at which point he chose to transfer to the insurance industry. “I went from buying insurance to selling it,” Salmon said.
Utilizing his past experiences, Salmon is able to advise business owners as well as all types of individuals as to the best ways to manage the risk in their lives through the proper use of insurance products. He works with their current legal and accounting professionals to accomplish these goals.
Salmon joined the RBA in 2000 and has since become a part of many of its activities. In addition to participating in the Ambassador Program for 4 years, he is a part of the Golf Committee, the Government Affairs Committee, and works with the Bridging Boards Expo. He also takes time to give back to the community, working with several non-profit organizations.
Salmon graduated from Stuyvesant High School and holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Franklin Pierce College where he majored in economics and history. He lives in New City. |
