FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RBA Seeks to Help Local Chambers

(Pearl River, NY – July 6, 2009) The Rockland Business Association is reaching out to village and hamlet chambers of commerce in Rockland, in an effort to help Main Street businesses in these tough economic times.  The RBA is offering the members of the local chambers an opportunity to exhibit at its Annual B-to-B EXPO at the same rate as members of the RBA.  And, the RBA will give each chamber a $50 stipend for each of their member participants.

“We wanted to make this happen because it is the right thing to do for a segment of our business community that is being particularly hard hit,” noted Al Samuels, President/CEO of the RBA.  “And, by having more businesses involved in our EXPO, everyone benefits,” he noted.

The annual B-to-B event, the largest in the area, will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the beautiful Marriot Hotel in Park Ridge, NJ.  The Marriot is an RBA member.

Over the past several years, the EXPO has attracted 1,200-1,500 visitors in addition to the roughly 300 people staffing the booths.  Highlights of the day’s activities include the popular kick-off brunch and the end of day highlight, the Cocktail Party & Dine-A-Round featuring many of the area’s top restaurants and catering facilities.

Long-time RBA member, Earl Lorence, President, Inter County Alarm Systems, noted the EXPO provides a “great return on investment and exposure to other RBA members.”  He added, “You never know who will walk up to your booth…new customers and/or old friends.  The RBA EXPO is good for business.”

Jessica Foley, Sales Manger at Dave & Buster’s, is another fan of the EXPO.  “Attendance is great with real tried and true people from the business community. I love being part of the RBA.  People join together for one day, under one roof, to do business,” she noted.  “Media exposure is a plus.”

The addition of the local chamber participation is just one of the ways that the RBA is working to make this year’s EXPO better than ever. The EXPO will feature a Job Posting Board – which will allow companies with job openings a place to post available positions.  Also, the Brunch is being expanded to 90 minutes in answer to the many requests for a longer pre-EXPO networking experience.  The EXPO will again feature the popular “Green” Business Section.  Each year, more and more businesses ask to exhibit in this section.  “There is a direct relationship to the growth of this section and the growth of our Green Council,” noted Samuels.

The day’s events begin at 10:30 AM with the Brunch.  EXPO Ribbon Cutting is at Noon, with the EXPO running until 5:00 PM.  The day ends with the Cocktail Party & Dine-A-Round from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.  Check presentations to local chambers will be made at a ceremony during the Dine-A-Round.
