Government Affairs / Economic Development Mission

Purpose

  • To provide the focal point for RBA's ongoing advocacy
  • To monitor and analyze legislation, policies and issues which impact Rockland business
  • To recommend association positions to the RBA's Executive Committee for appropriate action
  • To help market the public policy positions of the RBA

Goals

  • Serve as the RBA's conscience...involve itself in the public policy arena wherever the interests of the business community are at stake
  • Be proactive in crafting public policy which directly affects RBA members and the business community as a whole
  • Create an annual public policy/legislative agenda for the RBA
  • Build relationships with elected officials and public policy advocates and host interactive dialogue
  • Seek input and opinion from general RBA membership and insure representation of that perspective in
    policy positions

Issues

  • Continue strict oversight of Rockland's fiscal stress
  • Monitoring of policy decisions at all levels of county government
  • Support for regional economic development councils and property tax cap
  • Repeal of Wicks Law
